An important emphasis of WINHELLER Attorneys at Law is counselling nonprofit organizations in the area of German tax law and general nonprofit law. We assist nonprofit organizations from within and without Germany in successfully structuring their charitable projects and in receiving any tax benefits they deserve. We specifically help foreign organizations from within the European Union to get recognized by the German tax authorities as charitable organizations under German nonprofit tax law. As a result these foreign charities will be able to realize their income from German sources tax-free even if they are not physically located in Germany.
The basic approach of WINHELLER Attorneys at Law is to avoid risky and expensive legal disputes from the beginning. Your organization is supposed not only to find the approval from the tax authorities in the first place but to also keep the tax-exempt status permanently. This requires expert legal advice accompanying all your organization´s business decisions. Of course, we are also there to support you when it becomes necessary to defend your nonprofit tax-exempt status because of a threatening denial by the government.

Fundraising
We do not assist you in legal and tax matters only. You are welcome to request advice with respect to improving the financial situation of your nonprofit organization as well. We will gladly refer you to one of our cooperating fundraising experts who will work with you on individual fundraising strategies to raise money for your charitable projects. Our cooperating partners will do so with respect to conventional fundraising methods in Germany but also regarding fundraising in the US.
