Attorney Michael Rudolf Kissler is an experienced of counsel advisor in the areas of banking and capital markets law, IT law and compliance. Thanks to his extensive experience in the German start-up scene, his expertise is specifically geared toward fintechs, start-ups, medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs.
Michael Kissler has handled numerous cases in connection with licensing procedures for FinTechs, including in particular for securities institutions and crypto asset service providers. Another focus of his work is the design and implementation of internal control systems (ICS) and compliance management systems (CMS). As a registered data protection officer, he also has extensive experience in the development of data protection management systems and supports clients in their communication with data protection authorities, particularly in cases of data breaches and reporting obligations. His work focuses on the banking and finance sector as well as tech start-ups.
Prior to joining WINHELLER, Michael Kissler gained valuable professional experience in various positions, including as co-founder, general counsel and compliance officer at renowned fintech companies and law firms in Berlin, Munich, Warsaw and Frankfurt/Main.
After studying law at the University of Bielefeld and spending a semester abroad at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, Michael Rudolf Kissler earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in international business law from Kozminski University in Warsaw, Poland. He completed his legal clerkship at the Regional Court of Dortmund with placements in Frankfurt/Main, Hamm and Berlin. In addition, he obtained another LL.M. from Nottingham Trent University, England. Since October 2024, he has been working on a doctoral thesis on crypto assets at Nottingham Law School. Active in the crypto scene since 2013, he complements his broad skill set with certification as a drone pilot.
