Philipp von Wolff Metternich advises associations, foundations, and federations as well as companies and players in the sports and media industries as part of our NPO team in Frankfurt/Main. He supports our clients in all aspects of association law and foundation law, providing practical and legally compliant solutions throughout the entire organizational and brand life cycle. His main areas of expertise include

• Advising executive boards and management on issues relating to statutes and liability
• Drafting, amending and approving statutes
• Supporting and documenting meetings of executive bodies and committees
• Preparing and securing general meetings and resolutions
• Drafting and reviewing rules of procedure, honorary regulations and arbitration rules
• Supporting restructuring, changes of purpose and compliance issues
• Drafting and negotiating cooperation, sponsorship and licensing agreements
• Drafting grant, fund transfer and sponsorship agreements
• Developing governance and compliance guidelines to minimize risk and avoid board liability

In addition, he handles selected mandates at the interface of intellectual property law, sports and media law as well as press law. These include sponsorship and licensing issues, trademark enforcement, competition and name rights infringements, including warnings and interim legal protection and advice on press, personality and social media law.

Philipp von Wolff Metternich studied law in Würzburg and Heidelberg. He completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Cologne with placements at a leading sports law firm and a Bundesliga soccer club. For over five years, he was a research assistant at leading law firms specializing in media, press, trademark, and sports law, as well as intellectual property law, where he advised clubs and associations in particular.

In his free time, he plays tennis and soccer and is interested in art.
