U.S. group Mesa Laboratories buys peptide purification business of Berlin-based Belyntic GmbH

Frankfurt/Main, 08.12.2022 – WINHELLER supported Mesa Laboratories, Inc., based in Lakewood, Colorado, USA, in the acquisition of the peptide purification business of Berlin-based Belyntic GmbH. WINHELLER has successfully advised on several M&A transactions for Mesa Laboratories in the past.

Mesa, whose shares are listed at the U.S. stock exchange Nasdaq, is a global leader in the design and manufacture of life science tools and quality control solutions for the pharmaceutical, healthcare and medical device industries. The acquisition of Belyntic's peptide purification products complements Mesa's peptide synthesis business.

The acquired business includes the product "PEC", the first broadly applicable peptide purification kit that uses catch-and-release methods, drastically reducing the need for organic solvents and improving the ecological impact. PEC enables parallel and automated purification of peptides for accelerated drug development and efficient production processes.

With this project, Mesa continues its expansion course on the German and European market. WINHELLER already accompanied Mesa in the acquisition of the hygiene monitoring business unit of BAG Health Care GmbH as well as in the purchase of SIMICON GmbH.

As in previous transactions, WINHELLER advised Mesa under the lead of attorney Phillipp von Raven (M&A, corporate). Further team members were: Attys. Dr. Eric Uftring and Lars Gerbe (employment law) as well as Attys. Olga Stepanova and Patricia Jechel (IP, patent law). 

The seller Belyntic was advised by Atty. Prof. Dr. Hans-Eric Rasmussen-Bonne, LL.M. of WEITNAUER in Berlin (M&A, corporate; lead). Further team members were Benedikt Mahr, LL.M., Munich (tax) and Dr. Tobias Krätzschmar, J.D., Munich (IP).
